Just Walkin’….

This tree would not be out of place on the set of The Lord Of The Rings. Look at the gnarled effect on the trunk. I am sure it moves around at night. Call me prone to flights of fancy but every time I go down to the park I swear this tree has moved a fraction. One night I am going to sit in the park and wait……

Whenever I see this little boat in the bay I feel a strong sense of romanticism. Imagine the stories she could tell. Think of the adventures she’s had. Every time I see her she brightens my day.

‘The Anzac Bridge makes me feel the same way,’ she said, smilingly.

I still love you, my old friend.

These are the Crane Sisters. They seem to move to a beat. They are always together. I think that when nobody is looking they sing the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

PANSIES!!! I love this planter with its splash of purple. It’s such a cheery surprise as you walk along the street.

You know I’ve been on the lookout for gargoyles, lately, so I was delighted to find this one on the roof of a house near my son’s school. Would I be right in thinking this might be a little girl gargoyle? As far as gargoyles go, she’s actually pretty cute.

Thanks for joining me on another of my walks. It’s always great to have you come along.

  1. Your little boat reminds me of the boat on the tv show Gilligans Island. That tree looks downright scary, dripping moss and looking like it would be perfectyl at home in a Louisiana bayou in the dark!
I do love purple flowers and ya know what would make your cute little gargoyle perfect? If she was sitting on or beside a chimney pot! hahaha

One of the guys at work was telling me his daughter applied for and got a permit to work in Australia and will be coming to the Sidney area to live and work. I was telling him all about the wonderful things there that I’ve learned from you and your photos! How cool is that?

    1. It is a bit like Gilligan’s Island, Cathy. Louisiana bayou – I love that. It IS like that. You should see the tree up close – so much detail in the trunk, it looks like it’s been carved. A gargoyle next to a chimney pot? Perfect.

How cool that you’ve been able to tell someone else about Sydney via me. That is awesome. I should be getting paid by the local tourist commission. Haha.

  2. I’d be careful about hanging out near that tree at night…I imagine its twists are arms and legs of those who thought the same as you…of course I have a bit of an imagination. 🙂

  3. Thanks for always letting us tag along Selma. I am always daydreamy when close to an area with boats; I am not a sailor by any means, but I can think about what adventure awaits for those aboard.

    1. There are lots of trees like that in the parks around here, Tumblewords. Some of the trunks are so thick with so many knots you could almost make a little house there. I love them!

  4. Hi Selma,
I just love that tree, and the gargoyle seems very happy, which is unusual, I love it, you may be right it may be female. 😀

    1. You and I are definitely on the same wavelength, Patti. Shame we are in different hemispheres because I know we would enjoy hanging out together. We’ll just have to hang out online instead 😀

I loved the purple pansies of course, and yes the little smiling gargoyle at the end was almost whimsical and angelic in a way… definitely a girl! I am loving these outings with your camera, thank you Selma! 🙂

  7. Crane sisters – bwhahahaha. Love your photos and commentary Selma (of course trees like that walk about at night 😉 ). I never knew that Gargoyles could be so cute (I will have to reassess the Gargoyle prejudices that I obviously have). Thanks for the walk.
