I have been tagged by the gorgeous Meleah.
It is a ‘Getting To Know You‘ meme.
Here goes:
1. What is your occupation?
Personal Assistant to Cruella De Ville. If she doesn’t scare you no evil thing will. My duties include editing, writing press releases, tidying up Cruella’s mess, drycleaning her fur coats. N.B. I have refused to steal puppies.
2. What color are your socks right now?
They are gray, like the day. Actually, they are a very soft, fluffy gray like a lovely Persian cat.
3. What are you listening to right now?
Nina Simone’s brilliant album : Released
Favourite track ? Just Like A Woman
4. What was the last thing that you ate?
A Freddo Frog (Australian chocolate in the shape of a frog. Very cute and yummy.)
5. Can you drive a stick shift?
Yes, indeed. I can also drift and do donuts. (Former petrol head and current member of Streetracers Anonymous.)
6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Sky blue
7. Last person you spoke to on the phone?
My friend Mel. She told me a joke about the podiatrist and the bishop but it’s much too rude to repeat here!
8. Do you like the person who sent this to you?
She is one of my favourite people on the Blogosphere. I’m sorry I don’t know her in person.
9. Favorite drink?
Diet Coke
10. What is your favorite sport to watch?
Rugby Union, especially when the New Zealand All Blacks play the Australian Wallabies. I am in love with Danny Carter from the All Blacks even though he’s young enough to (almost) be my son. It’s a little pervy, but fun!
11. Have you ever dyed your hair?
I dyed my hair jet black when I was 18 (I was a Goth) and nearly gave my Mum a stroke but I haven’t since then. I am a natural blonde and fortunately there is no gray yet. Oddly enough, I get a stray gray in my eyebrows from time to time. Thank God for tweezers!
12. Pets?
Six goldfish – Blue, Seb, Taffy, Squirt, Jerry and Fatty Boom Boom. They are very friendly.
13. Favorite food?
A nice New York steak, well done. (I hate when you go to a restaurant and the chef insists on doing it medium-rare. Guess what mate? I’m the one paying and I don’t want a pool of blood on my plate.)
14. Last movie you watched?
The Apartment (last night) with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. A comedy classic!
15. Favorite Day of the year?
My son’s birthday. I feel good knowing I’ve kept him around for another year.
16. What do you do to vent anger?
I swear a lot. Yes, the ‘f’ word is used. My son and I have a little act we do when people frustrate us where we hold hands and jump up and down, swearing and grunting like baboons. We look so ridiculous that we end up laughing. I recommend a good monkey impression as a way of releasing anger and tension.
17. What was your favorite toy as a child?
An original 1960s Barbie. She had on a Mary Quant mini-dress, blue eyeshadow, knee-high white boots and had various hairpieces that I changed according to her mood. For many years I wanted to be her!
18. What is your favorite, fall or spring?
Spring. I love to say ‘Spring has sprung and de grass is riz, I wonder where dem boidies iz.’
19. Hugs or kisses?
You can’t beat a good hug that comes from the heart, complete with a little back patting. I hate those horrible air kisses. I always feel like saying : “Sweetie, dahling, sweetie dahling” as in Absolutely Fabulous.
20. What kind of pie?
Homemade beef
21. Do you want your friends to email you back?
That would be very kind and nice of them.
22. Who is most likely to respond?
Some will, some won’t.
23. Who is least likely to respond?
Some do, some don’t.
24. Living arrangements?
With Alfie and Jake and the fishies.
25. When was the last time you cried?
At Andie’s funeral and this morning thinking about it.
26. What is on the floor of your closet?
Boots and shoes and the odd piece of clothing that I can’t be bothered to pick up.
27. Who is the friend you have had the longest that you are tagging?
I don’t know – I am very indecisive today.
28. The friend you have known the shortest amount of time that you are tagging?
I still don’t know. My indecision is chronic.
29. Favorite smell?
The ocean on a windy day.
30. What inspires you?
Grace, honesty, passion, kindness, people who give a damn, the people who invented those little bite-sized chocolate bars you can eat at work when no one is looking.
31. What are you afraid of?
Not doing what I know I should be, anxiety attacks, that we will leave it too late to save our beautiful world.
32. Plain, cheese or spicy hamburgers?
Cheeseburgers all the way (with extra onions.)
33. Favorite car?
BMW M5 – black.
34. Favorite cat breed?
I like the old common tabby, especially one I can rescue. However, they must always wear a collar with bells to warn the native birds they are lurking.
35. Number of keys on your key ring?
5
36. How many years at your current job?
7 years previously with a break of 3 years, back again for a month.
37. Favorite day of the week?
Saturday soiree.
38. How many provinces have you lived in?
They don’t divide Australia into provinces but I have lived in 10 different suburbs.
39. How many countries have you been to?
Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, France, the Channel Islands, Italy, the USA, New Zealand, Fiji, Vanuatu.
I would love to visit Germany, Russia, Japan, Canada and Scandinavia.
That’s the end. There ain’t no more. I’m not going to tag anyone but if you would like to do this meme, please do so. Thanks, Meleah, that was fun!
4. What was the last thing that you ate?
A Freddo Frog (Australian chocolate in the shape of a frog. Very cute and yummy.)
It wasn’t the last thing I ate, but today I did enjoy a Caramello Koala (Australian chocolate, filled with a flowing caramel centre, in the shape of a koala. Also cute and yummy)

Sometimes Memes are really good in that they offer up a few surprises you weren’t expecting. Such as, you using the “f” word…..not judging here, I swear like a navvy but just was surprised you do. Also trying to imagine you with black “gothlike” hair….lol. That was really great. I might even do it in the next few days. Will let you know if I do.

Anyone who has Diet Coke as their favorite drink can’t be too bad in my book. And it’s a large book!

Are you like me? I wouldn’t have an automatic if I found one in my driveway, with the keys in it and a gold ribbon round it!

Hey Selma,
My best friend turned me onto Nina Simone. How much soul can one broad have eh? I want to warn you about Diet Coke. All sodas have carbonic acid in them. The eat away at your bone structure. I worry about your bones because I want you to be mobile for decades to come.

Baboons. Hmmmm. Do you do your hand-holding/jumping/swearing gig in front of other folks? That would certainly be interesting at a bust terminal or a grocery store or something.
Anyhoo, Baboons made me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=–szrOHtR6U

This was great fun! I loved reading this and finding out those interesting bits about you. I was especially tickled to read about your goldfish and their names. You have one more goldfish than I do!

DAVID – have you ever tried the strawberry Freddo Frogs? If you like soft centres they are an absolute delight. I am addicted.
GYPSY – I probably come across as someone who doesn’t swear but in ‘real’ life I let a few naughties rip. I am from Glasgow, Scotland originally and everyone likes a wee swear there (think Billy Connelly.) I’d love to see you with black hair but just to warn you it is a dramatic change – takes a lot of getting used to. At first you don’t recognise yourself!
AVITABLE – what an honour. You know, I lurk at your blog and really enjoy it. You have a brilliant sense of humour. Thanks so much for visiting!
KEITH – I do prefer a manual car. I had a lovely red MG for years that I used to whiz around in but it got stolen. It was never found, almost broke my heart. I have an automatic at the moment but when I am rich enough to afford a Porsche Carrera it will be manual all the way. I saw one the other day – dark blue with a tan interior. It was sweet!
MELEAH – you ARE one of my favourite people. Absolutely no question. ((((Hugs))))
JOHNNY – Nina Simone has so much soul it almost leaves you gasping. I know what you’re saying about the Diet Coke and I should stop. It does worry me a bit when they use it to degrease driveways. Thanks for the tip!
GROOVY – ooga booga, that’s the cutest song I’ve ever heard. I love it. And no, we try to keep our babooning to ourselves. I don’t think the world at large would understand. Hahaha.
MISS BRITT – I will admit that my boss gives me a lot of free art books and tickets to exhibitions and stuff but so far so Manolo Blahniks. I keep hoping.
MICHAEL – I can’t wait to read your responses.
KATE – aaaah, a fellow goldfish lover. They are my little babies, those guys. People think I’m mad but I truly love them. They are actually very cool pets!

I do enjoy reading other people’s memes. I’m just horrible about doing them myself. Your answers were awesome, and when I told Middle Minion about your mad driving skilz, he nearly swooned. My boy loves him some cars!
