Well, It’s About Time We Had Some Good News

Hey, Everyone, you’re not going to believe this but I’ve actually got some good news.

I entered a writing competition a few weeks ago and I got Highly Commended.

It was the Eureka Street Reader’s Feast Awards based in Victoria. I had to write an essay about life 20 years in the future.  I rambled a bit (you know me) and there was the possibility I hadn’t written a proper essay – more like a story – and I actually thought when I sent it in that they might not consider it because it was more fiction-like than essay-like, but they really liked it. And it’s going to be published on their website. And I’m even getting paid for it. Well, blow me down.

I think the story essay is going to be up on the site next week. I’ll let you know when.

I want to thank all of you for your constant support with my writing but I also want to say to my fellow writers  – DON’T STOP SUBMITTING – you just never know when something’s going to be accepted.

And it’s a great feeling when it is.

    You always write such lovely pieces, and it’s obvious from the comments that a lot of people like reading them. But, as I’m sure you know, the trick is finding an editor or publisher who does. Well done!
