Four Years Ago

I have now been blogging for 4 years. I have really enjoyed it and am still surprised that I have lots of things to say. I put that down to you, my splendiferous readers. You have supported me always and have kept reading through my illlnesses, my rants, my episodes of extremely sporadic blogging and my periods of hyper-blogging. You have even read my stories and been very kind in your feedback.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I wouldn’t still be doing this without you.

I love every one of you.

Please come for a walk with me and see some of the sights that have made me happy this week.  And I promise, not a chimney pot in sight.

Why do I hear that song You’re My Obsession every time I post a photo of the Anzac Bridge? Oh well, must be my imagination….

This is my neighbour’s cat. Every time I see him he holds out his paw and swipes at me as if to say Come any closer and I shall smite thee. His name is Hank but his owner calls him Fluffy or Fluffster. I think that pisses him off. I call him Fluffy the Aggro Cat.

SCENES FROM NEWTOWN. Snakes numberplate – too cool for school, right? Elvis is alive and well. Scissorhands is a very popular hair salon (great name, right?) And big lips on a theatre space wall – give us a kiss schweetheart…

Look at this Magpie Lark. How fat is he? I don’t know what he’s been eating but he’s a ball. Dude, you have to stop overeating….

I love this Little Pied Cormorant. Just too adorable to be true.

Flowers to cheer the heart.

I see this man and his dog a lot. Now that’s togetherness.

I like Norton Street at night, especially when the neon shines.

And who doesn’t love a sunset on the water? One of the most soothing sights in the world.

Thank you for reading for four years. Thank you for being there. Love to you all.

He’s so fat. I couldn’t believe it when I saw him. I don’t know how he can actually fly. Silly little guy. So glad you enjoyed the photos. You’re a delight too!

Love the photos and Hank aka Fluffy certainly has a mean look in his eye. 🙂

Keep it coming Selma, I love your blog. xxx

    1. Thanks, Susannah.
No one messes with Hank even though he is fluffy. That fluffiness is a disguise, let me tell you. I think that secretly he is plotting to take over the world. Hahaha.

  3. Happy, happy anniversary – 4 years is a long time in the blogosphere – hope you keep on blogging for a long time to come. Fantastic photos and captions – haha – too cool for school! I wonder why that cat does that (or is that the same cat as in that story you told – hehehe – that would explain any nefarious behaviour) – love ya Selma Jo 🙂

    1. It’s a different cat, Gabrielle. It’s the big Mack Daddy cat of the street.
I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. I’m glad I’ve stuck with it because I have met some amazing people who have enriched my life (like you) and it has also helped me in a mental sense (like a form of therapy.) Winning all round.
Love you too, Gabby Sue. *Twang*

      1. In case anyone is wondering about the *twang*, Gabrielle and another friend of ours, Lily, were talking on Twitter yesterday about how we’d love to learn to play the banjo. I, of course, had to bring my silly hillbilly speak into it and talked about how banjo music was ‘purtier than a speckled pup.’ I am now known as Selma Jo. I think Gabrielle could be Gabby Sue and Lily could be Lily Mae. Twitter is fun. I always have a laugh when I’m on there!

  5. How time flies! Congrats on the 4 years of blogging, I agree without regular visitors, it wouldn’t be any fun. I love blogging too. Every time I think I’ll pack it in, too much else to do, I am brought back to blogging because it’s something important that’s missing.

I love your photos especially the sailboat and sunset one, gorgeous. I’d like to paint this actually!

    Have a wonderful day, G :<)

    1. It’s true, G. It does become a part of your life. On the days where I can’t get to the computer I really miss it. I will send you some of the sunset photos if you like. I would love if you would paint one. It is so cool when people inspire one another like that. And the colours are gorgeous!

    1. Awww, thanks, Cathy. And if you do ever make it down here I would be more than happy to be your tour guide. Hank AKA Fluffy is quite the character. Someone needs to write a book about him he has so much personality. But don’t get too close…..

  12. I would read anything you write. though I haven’t comment much, I still read your posts. there’s always so much you give with each word – humor, a sense of self, picturesque views of your city, comments on every day life, stuff that I think of but don’t write down, many words of encouraging thoughts that makes one think the world is still beautiful – I think we don’t give enough credits to our own love of life, only because it’s not always easy.

many thanks for your kind words as well on my writings & photographs. I’m grateful to have met you, even if not in person.

I think celebrating any kind of anniversary is a must. how else will we know how much time has passed or how much we’ve accomplished?

so, congrats on 4 years. looking forward to many new ventures. have a lovely, lovely day.

  15. Happy Blogiversary!

I’m with you when you say ‘Come for a walk’ … I get a lot of my ideas on my ‘virtual dog-walks’. And, of course the ‘Trip Diary’ … if I ever get caught up on that, I can always ‘go retrospective’, because there’s stuff in there going back to the middle 90s … long before I started blogging.

As Mae West once said … Keep a diary; one day, it may keep you!
    Keep smiling!

    1. It’s true. I get so many ideas from just walking around. There really is so much to see even just in the local neighbourhood. It’s also quite therapeutic to walk so that is an added benefit. Looking forward to some of your retrospectives. Sounds like fun!
