Ramblin’ Around

I was out walking today, the sun was shining in my eyes and I could have sworn this mass of greenery moved. Don’t you think the bit in the middle looks like a head and the bushy bits on either side look like raised arms? I’m sure this bushy man must walk around at night. My neighbourhood has its very own Abominable Vegetation Man. Maybe he’s what Bigfoot would look like if he was a vegetarian.

I went to a wedding once where the bridesmaids wore dresses the same colour as this soft orange rose, captivating with its hints of pink and yellow. When I heard the bridesmaids dresses were going to be orange I scoffed, thinking it would never work, but it was a very elegant look.

I saw this boat at Drummoyne and I thought it looked like something you’d see in an island setting with the way the light is glinting on the water and the vegetation so close to the shore. Well, I suppose Australia is a pretty big island…..

This Masked Lapwing is like a little sentry staring out to sea. He seems so gallant and brave. Quite the little nobleman. I love his skinny legs.

I think he grew cross with my presence because he later flew off, voicing his protest out across the water.

The Anzac Bridge, looking particularly fetching today, coaxing the sky towards deeper shades of blue. How lucky I am to see this bridge every time I ramble.

And finally some chimney pots for my dear friend Patti. I found some blue ones, Patti. Can you believe it?

It’s just so nice to get out and ramble around.

  1. I swear your ‘abdominable vegetation’ thing reminds me of a gree Mr. Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street tv shows! It’s the first thing that popped into my head. I don’t know what kind that is but it looks all bushy and fluffy!

Glad to see ya out and about grabbing bit and pieces of your beloved ‘island’ to share with us!

    1. He does look like Snuffy, Cathy. But wait till he comes alive at night *insert ear-piercing screams here* I don’t know what kind of bush it is either. I should find out. I am always glad to get out and about!

  2. Hi,
Wow loved the veggie man, and I don’t doubt for a minute you saw him move. 😀
The boat reminds me of Gilligan’s Island, and the rose is gorgeous.
It looks like you had a very nice walk, and got some fantastic photos. 🙂

    1. It could’ve been a trick of the light, Mags, but I’m sure I saw him move 😉
You’re RIGHT – it does look like Gilligan’s Island. How cool is that!

  3. That green thing – it was Oscar the Grouch waking up!
Love that rose! I posted orange today too, funny enough. Mostly I love your gallant lapwing. You’ve pegged him right on.

    1. We’re definitely on a Sesame St. theme here, Jen, but I can Oscar waking up, for sure. That is so funny. I love the little gallant lapwing too. He is adorable.

  4. This was just lovely! I have having a bugger of a Monday at work, equipment breakdowns, phones non-stop and paper piling up faster than snowbanks in a blizzard! With all your lovely pics I felt like I got to go along on this walk with you, such lovely views. I love how the little things capture our attention, like the bushy monster, or that lovely orange rose. I do think that pastel orange would make lovely bridesmaid dresses at a wedding! Nothing is more healing to the heart and mind than a good walkabout!

    1. For you to like a photo of a bridge means so much to me because I know how terrified you are of bridges, Meleah. YAY. It DOES look like a giant head, doesn’t it? Yikes!

I love it when you get out and ramble around, Selma 🙂
(PS – my bridesmaid and flower girl dresses were the colour of that rose 🙂

  6. Abominable Vegetation! I just thought of John Wyndham’s ‘The Day of the Triffids’

Sounds like you’ve well and truly got into the philosophy of ‘taking the camera for a walk’! 🙂

    1. Me too. That book terrified me. I read it when I was about 14. Didn’t look at big plants the same way for years. I do take the camera for a walk. Love how you put it!
