I love flowers that unexpectedly pop up in the garden without any human intervention 🙂 like Sheldon Cooper popping up out of a kid’s ball pit and saying Gazinga (you probably haven’t seen that episode of the Big Bang Theory but I thought I would throw it in anyway).

    1. I am definitely going to have to watch The Big Bang Theory from now on, Gabe – I feel like I’m missing out. Haha. I love how flowers pop up unexpectedly too. Petal power rules!!!

  2. How about ‘A weed is a flower you didn’t plant’

    I only pull up the real nasties … the nice ones I leave for a while (but, I do take them out before they have a chance to set seed)

    And, I didn’t buy any bedding plants this year, but still have a gorgeous display of allyssum, marigolds and wallflowers … they just seeded themselves from previous years, and the effect is much more random and pleasing.

    1. Rambley brambley…. I LOVE that. That is so Winnie the Pooh-esque with a hint of Beatrix Potter. And it’s a perfect description for the way I like a garden to be, Bluebee. Awesome!!

  4. Flowers feed the soul for sure. I have a black thumb (which others might call laziness) and can’t seem to grow them successfully, but I’m drawn to other people’s gardens. My vacation photos are always chock-a-block with flower photos with a few tourist attractions interspersed. 🙂

    1. My thumb swings from green to black, Patti, but I have some friends who are fantastic gardeners so I am always hanging around them to get some tips. I love other people’s gardens – they’re like bright, beautiful stories!

    I finally looked for the translation of solace, I came across this word with the James bond movie, and from James Bond to flowers I could not figure out the meaning!

    1. Oh yes, Benedicte, Quantum of Solace is quite a confusing title. I don’t even know what it means. I don’t think anybody does. The comfort of flowers will do. They offer me a lot of comfort. The colours….aah…they uplift me!!!

  8. So true! Look how we use flowers to comfort, to console, and even in celebration. Their delicate beauty, bold colors, and fine aromas fill our senses with the feeling that all is well and right with the world. Who can turn away from a garden or bouquet of bright flowers such as these without smiling? They are lovely!

    1. I challenge anyone not to smile at a garden full of flowers, Josie. I don’t think it’s possible not to be moved by such a sight. You’d have to have a heart made of stone. Or be a zombie….. 😆

  10. I may never be into flowers as much as some people do. I like them and sometimes stop to smell them and I have bought roses to give to a couple of girls (a long while ago) and stuff. But I’m not into them big time. I can appreciate them just as much as the next guy. But I will always remember how much my dog Shawny liked flowers when she was alive – stopping to smell all the pots & plants in our garden when she was released from her kennel.

    1. A lot of dogs do like flowers, Roshan. My old dog Henry (also a goldie) loved to smell flowers. His favourite were carnations…. he could sniff them out at 20 paces. So funny!

  11. That’s absolutely true. Flowers warm our soul. Their beauty and colour lifts us up.

    I just wish my flowers I planted did better but with drought like conditions and a soaring water bill theyu’re not doing all that well. The roses though are wonderful so I’ll just console myself with theose this year.

    1. It’s hsrd to grow flowers in drought conditions, Cathy. They just droop in the heat or don’t grow at all. I do sympathise…it’s not easy with weathr like that 😕

  12. sounds true enough. I do feel less gloomy looking at colorful flowers, it makes one want to be happy somehow. I also think that of trees and leaves and clouds in the sky, pretty much anything nature-related. although I cannot praise insects and flies at the moment since they kept biting me. sorry, straying from the topic.
