Entering Light

I chose this particular quote this week because I think about the darkness and the light a lot. I like the intimation that things which we might think are harming us actually provide a means to heal us. Hope you like it too.

Have a light-filled week…..

“The wound is the place where the light enters you…”

  1. I must be taking in a lot of light… 🙂 Here’s one I think you’ll like. As Leonard Cohen says, “There’s a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”

    1. Oh me too, Patti. Me too. Love that Leonard Cohen song. What a lyricist he is… I cry when I read some of his lyrics…just incredible. Thanks so much for the song!

  3. Ooh, this is a totally different aspect of wounds and healing! I love it and will remember it! Your quotes are awesome, Selma, wishing you a beautiful, light-filled week!

    1. Thaty was one of my fluke photos, slpmartin. I didn’t realise the light had seeped through until I loaded it onto the desktop. A message from above perhaps? 😉

  4. Since my recent brain injury, I am finding that is most definitely happening to me. I feel myself transforming, becoming lighter, despite the problems. I have to be much more focused and in the moment. I have no choice. It takes tremendous energy, the energy that light gives.

    1. That’s a good thing…to feel yourself transforming and becoming lighter. I feel that sometimes myself, Squirrel, and you’re right, it does take a lot of energy to take on the light. But it’s a great feeling!!!

  5. Your quote got me to think! In a way I agree, but it also implicates that suffering is good which I do not agree. It reminded me of some priest saying that over and over, suffer and you will get to paradise…like money do not bring happiness, not a quote invented by someone in need. But I did copy this quote in my sketchbook 😉

    1. There is that implication that suffering is good, Benedicte…you are quite right… and I don’t like that either. Sometimes my initial reading of a quote changes and I realise there can be many layers of meaning. I will try and stick with with my initial reading which was not that suffering was good but an inevitable part of life and in some ways does bring us closer to the light. I hope 😀

        1. I Know what you meant though, Benedicte. There is an aspect to the quote that doesn’t appeal to me, either. Suffering just doesn’t seem right in any format!!

  6. “The wound is the place where the light enters you…” I love this. Lately I feel like if I sit in my place of comfort I become a little bit dead and dark. I must mentally stretch myself or physically go to where I’m uncomfortable to make a sort of wound and then I’m free again, the light has entered. The quote really resonated for me thanks Selma!

  8. Love the pic Selma. I haven’t been near the water in a while, I wanna go boating someday soon. Or atleast to the beach.

    1. Being by the water is really great, Roshan. I’d love to have a boat. One day I plan to. I’ll call it a really cheesy nautical name like the SS Hornblower or something like that. It is one of my dreams….

  9. I think about darkness and light a lot too … and that quote you’ve shared is incredible. Thank you.

After a somewhat dark week for me last week, I’m sensing there is much light just around the corner (and maybe that’s because of the dark). xx

    1. I hope light is around the corner for you, Tracey. One thing I’ve learnt is that even after experiencing a run of dark hours, the light always comes back on. Sometimes it takes a while but it does appear. Hope your week was better xx
