With Thanks To Bobby D

This week’s quote comes to you courtesy of the one and only Bob Dylan.

Now there is a man who can pull a quote out of thin air. He has said (and written) so many notable and quotable things it is hard to narrow it down to just one of them. But this one spoke to me. I like it a lot.

Have an encouraging, energizing, doing- what- you- want- to- do week, everyone.

ā€œA man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.ā€

– BOB DYLAN

  1. That’s my definition of retirement, as you probably know from visiting my blog this week! Of course, as a child of good Catholic parents, I am bound to feel just a wee bit guilty if I have too many days like that. But taking care of house, acreage and now hubby as well guarantees there’ll be regular interruptions to my do-what-you-want-to days. Bujt god bless Bob Dylan, right?

      1. No worries about typos, Chartreuse. I think doing what you want can also be getting through all the daily jobs we all have to do. That’s how I look at it. Oh yeah, God bless Bobby.

  2. I so totally agree, that would be my ultimate idea of having “made it” in life, being able to do exactly as I wanted each day, all day! As it is I have to steal a few hours here and there, and put up with the drudgery of “working” in the meantime. But it sure is nice to fantasize about!

  3. Similar to a quote I once heard … can’t remember who it’s attributed to:

‘I count the day wasted if I go to bed without knowning something I didn’t know when I got up’

(If it’s not claimed within 28 days, I shall say I said it! :D)

    1. I think it was you who originally said it, Travelrat. Haha. It’s actually a really good quote. I like to learn new things everyday….and usually I do!

  4. I love the quote and is exactly why I’m taking courses with a plan to change jobs and do what I want to do.

As for Bob Dylan himself…pffft never saw the attraction…always seemed to me to be grossly overrated lol But it is a good quote, although that may be just cos it directly applies to my circumstances lately and that’s why I like it lol

    1. Watch out, Cathy. The Bobby D fans will be after you. Haha. Yeah. I interpret the quote mostly as being true to yourself and where possible doing work that is close to your heart. It’s not always easy to do, but it is possible. I am so pleased for you thar you are on the path to achieving that!

  5. I wish I can do just that but sometimes I just don’t want to do anything. Is sitting around staring at a computer screen consider doing something?

hope you are having a great day.
